Fandible October Fundraising Drive

This month, we’re making an extra push for new, or expanded, Patreon donations. Just like your local NPR or PBS station, this is our fundraising drive. We lack celebrity endorsements, but make up for it in pure charm (right?).

We use our Patreon donations to cover a lot of basic expenditures for the podcast. Primarily, we pay for servers and domain hosting, as well as supporting Kickstarters and otherwise purchasing new games to bring to the podcast. But as we look ahead to the end of the year, we know we have some major expenses coming up, and would like a little extra Patreon cushion to help us get through.

Our current recording equipment is about three years old, and the microphones especially are starting to near the ends of their lives. We’ve had occasional episodes where everything sounded fine in our test, but halfway through a mic seemed to just drop out. We’ve had to completely retire one problematic microphone, which means we currently don’t have a backup if one more fails us completely. By November, we absolutely want to upgrade our microphones.

Also in November, you may know that several of us are traveling to AcadeCon! This has been the busiest year for Fandible conventions ever – we’ve been to Dreamation and Dexcon, so AcadeCon will be our third trip of the year, and the furthest one to travel to. Additional Patreon funds will help us cover our rental car and gas, and maybe even buy a round of drinks after a hard day’s gaming.

If you’re not currently a Patreon backer, please check out our page to learn more about the platform and see the perks monthly donors receive. If you’re already a backer, we hope you’ll consider increasing your pledge for the month of October. We promise to post ample reminders on Patreon throughout November to remind you to cancel or reduce your pledge if you only wanted to increase for one month. We know the holidays are coming up!

If a Patreon donation doesn’t work for your budget, here are some other ways you can support Fandible:

  • The Saints of Suffering T-shirt is still available on Teespring! This is an ongoing campaign that restarts every three days. It’s the “last day” to order as of this post, but a brand new campaign starts up at the same link tomorrow, so order whenever is convenient for you and it will be processed and shipped within three days (rather than waiting for a longer campaign to end!). And more shirts will be going live SOON (fans of End of the World will want to keep an eye on Twitter…)
  • Share your favorite Fandible episodes on Facebook, Twitter, etc. Check out our brand new “New to Fandible” page for our recommendations of the best places for new listeners to start, or dig through the whole archive for your personal favorites.
  • Rate and review us on Apple Podcasts, Podchaser, or your favorite podcasting service. These reviews are helpful in boosting us in internal algorithms to help new users find us, and convince them that out of all the AP podcasts on the world wide web, they should give Fandible a chance!

And finally, a huge thank you to each and every Fandible listener over the last seven years. We wouldn’t be able to do a fraction of what we do without you. Your comments, Tweets, and emails keep us going more than any dollar amount does. Thanks for making the last seven years awesome, and we hope we’re still around in another seven to keep celebrating!
