Classic movie monster @ roleplay? The creature from the black lagoon in Cthuthulu (can’t spell) game. See if it’s got any gossip. Also… *throws open the shuddered windows of the comic shop* Final Girl is for sale! Fly my Pretties! Fly!

The classic monster to invite to a role-playing session is Imhotep, and he would actually make a great GM. Not only would he narrate in the dulcet tones of Boris Karloff, if everyone sat around a table that could hold a small amount of standing water, he could wave his hand over it and show everyone the terrain without the need for maps and minis!

As for what game he would run? Well, I guess it’s a bit on the nose to say Mummy: The Resurrection. Now that I think about, perhaps he’d rather play a GM-less game like Microscope in which he can take part in building great empires and civilizations. Then again, I could be wrong. After all, his motivation was love, so maybe he would rather play a game like Monster Hearts in which romance is essential.

@mrm1138 – omg, I am in love with the idea of Boris Karloff GMing. I actually want him to do something Final Girl-esque, where he could be multiple monsters (Imhotep, Frankenstein’s Monster…)

I am now envisioning a scenario in which Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, Vincent Price, and Christopher Lee all sit down together to play a game of Dread. I don’t think I’d be able to choose which one of them would be the GM, though. Maybe Lee because, of the four of them, his voice is the most booming and commanding.

What’s really infuriating about Victor Salva is that he’s completely unrepentant. Watch Powder again and you’ll see what I mean. Or heck, watch Jeepers Creepers 2 and have a shot every time a boy takes his shirt off for no reason–then call an ambulance because you have alcohol poisoning. Yes, it was pretty bad that the movie studios gave this guy money to make a film like Powder where he subtly pities himself through the main character, but then they actually let him make two horror films where he could go up to some kids and say, “Hey, for this scene, I want you to take your shirt off.”

I’ve heard that you can’t rehabilitate a pedophile, and Victor Salva’s antics seem to confirm that.

    Scary place:

Maidun Castle. Its a vast iroange hillfort over two thousand years old near my hometown. Covered in mist and haunted by visions of the roman legions as they assaulted and slaughter the town.

  12. Warren says:

Frankenstein (per xkcd) – Dread (he’s going to insist that he can handle that Jenga tower, but you know you’re going to be picking blocks out of the wall)

The Golem – Happy Birthday Robot

    Not classics, but…
Freddy Kruger – Don’t Rest Your Head
    Gremlins – Fiasco
